How to clean your lampshades

Updated: Aug 22, 2021

Welcome Autumn!

It is time to dust off your lockdown blues, the end is in sight! It is almost Autumn and that means one thing - Snuggling up at home and the last thing we want to think about is house cleaning! Grab those marigolds and lets do the one job most people do not think about - Cleaning your Lampshades!

Lampshade cleaning can be one of those finicky cleaning tasks and let’s be honest have you thought about doing it?

But how do you clean a lampshade and wondering how to do it without staining?

Customers ask this question a lot so we decided to share with you how to keep our lampshades looking spic and span. We recommend this is done every season.

All of our lampshades as you know are made from fabric and they are very delicate, so there are a couple of ways you can clean them easily.

First, remove your lampshade from your lampstand or fitting.

Remove as much dust as possible - we recommend one of Norwex's dusting mitts. They are perfect for removing dust and around the rest of your home.

You can use your vacuum cleaner with the soft brush attachment to do this. Be careful not to dent your lampshade.

Use a clean lint roller or paintbrush and with long, vertical motions sweep dust off the lampshade from top to bottom.

In a bowl mix cool water with some delicate fabric detergent. Apply just the soap suds to the lampshade in sections using a microfiber cloth, turning the lampshade each time to ensure full coverage. Gently rinse off the suds and wipe the lampshade dry with a dry microfiber cloth.

Let us know how you get on with cleaning your lampshades now you know.
